When I graduated from UC Berkeley my Grandfather gave me a book about investing in real estate and said, “I wish someone had told me the importance of real estate investment when I was your age. This book should give you a leg up on everybody else.” That was my first clue that I would be involved in real estate. I also looked at how my parents purchased and held rental properties for the long-term. I can remember as a kid going with my Dad to play while he painted vacant rentals and got them ready to be leased again. So I guess you can say investing in real estate is in my blood.
Originally the vision of Farland Realty was focused on being a one stop shop for all your real estate needs. We were going to originate loans, help clients buy and sell property, and round out our mix with property management. It was quickly realized however that the only way to be successful was to focus, focus, focus. We have aligned ourselves with a great lender, and we have a great property manager, but we let them do what they do best, and we focus on what we do best, and that’s in helping you buy or sell property.
I am a diehard real estate investor. I can talk about return on equity, cash on cash return, vacancy rates, capitalization rates, etc. until I am blue in the face. But ask me about Cape Cod architecture and I will have to tell you I am not your person (My wife is!). I want to find you an investment property that fits your needs. Everybody has different needs. One person might be looking for tax advantages related to rental properties. Another person might be looking to build long-term equity or cash flow growth, and yet another person might want to buy a property to fix up and sell for a profit. I want to help you invest your hard earned capital wisely, and rental property is a great diversification tool for wealth accumulation. I have been investing in real estate since 1998, and I think like an investor first and foremost. I can help you navigate the decision process, and I will help you develop a framework for successful long-term investing.
